About Basilica Nossa Senhora de Penha

The Nossa Senhora de Penha or Basilica da Penha is a Roman Catholic religious basilica situated in the city of Recife, in the province of Pernambuco, in Brazil. Has a place with the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin, in the archdiocese of Olinda and Recife. Its supporter is the Virgin of the Rock. The root of the area of the Basílica da Penha goes back to a little rhetoric situated in "Outside Porta de Santo Antônio", comparing, with a slight contrast, to the territory where today the contemporary building is raised. The speech was established in 1655 by the French Capuchin Franciscans and developed April 16 of that year, in a plot gave by Belchior Alves Camello and his significant other Joanna Bezerra.
