Aflou

Aflou is a commune in Algeria and belongs to the wilaya of Laghouat . It is the second one biggest city inside the wilaya of Laghouat and one of the maximum essential towns within the area, placed at almost the equal distance from Tiaret , Djelfa , Laghouat , El Bayadh , which gives it a strategic importance within the nearby development of the vicinity. It is nicknamed "the capital of Jebel Amour ", the Western Aures , because of its mountainous geography and its situation in western Algeria.

The region was populated in prehistory by nomadic peoples of North Africa who left rock engravings testifying to their presence. However, the metropolis Aflou has emerged on the xix th century, based within the heart of a massive depression synclinal . During the French occupation of Algeria, it become an administrative annex of the army circle of Tiaret at the start. In 1874, Aflou became a combined commune of the department of Oran then, in 1957, changed into connected to the brand new branch of Tiaret till 1974, while it was incorporated into the wilaya of Laghouat.
