Vikingskiphuset (Viking Ship Museum): Oslo

If you are fascinated by the stories of vikings, about their lives and their journeys to the faraway lands, then Vikingskiphuset or the Viking Ship Museum is your chance to learn more about vikings and probably get more fascinated. Built in the year 1936, the cathedral like museum houses three exquisitely preserved 9th century viking burial ships which were discovered near the Oslo Fjord. The region is considered to be the most important archaeological find in Norway which reveals a lot about the maritime history of the country. The three vessels housed in them, the bodies of royal viking chiefs and of one queen, buried with their pets, servants and many artifacts are the prime attractions here. All this makes it largest viking find anywhere in the world.
