Khlong Lan Waterfalland Mountains

The Khlong Lan national park is the home to wonderful waterfalls and mountains. The park is located in the Dawna Mountain Range of Khlong Lan and Mueang Kamphaeng Phet districts of Kamphaeng Phet Province, on the West of Thailand. The park is rocky and uneven all along the Dawna Range, and is coated with deep fertile forest. Each of the mountains is connected to Khun Khlong Lan, the highest peak at 1,439 meters above sea level. Khlong Suan Mak and Khlong Khlung both have originated from this mountain range. The prominent places in the park are Khlong Nam Lai Waterfalls and Khlong Lan. Khlong Lan National Park is hardly an hour's drive southwest to the town of Kamphaeng Phet. The Khlong Lan Waterfall is a 100m tall and 40m wide giant fall which has a good flow all year long. On the foot of the fall, quite a good number of trees are grown. The location of the fall is easily accessible and seems to be quiet unlike other waterfall sight. The surrounding areas of the fall will offer you a wonderful walking trail. There are amazing walking trail on both sides of the stream which will help you to see the adjoining areas more closely. The right side of the waterfall comprises of a walking trail which can lead you to the back of the waterfall itself. The wide iety of flora includes Shorea siamensis, Teak, Shorea obtusa, Pterocarpus macrocarpus and bamboo trees. Whereas the magnificent range of fauna contains wild pig, macaque, sambar deer,barking deer, squirrel and birds. If you move forward you will get a track on the left. Just cross the bridge and there will be round track in the midst of trees. For some spiritual purpose the Buddhist monks and other believers used to wrap the trees before the waterfall with some colorful fabrics fronted by makeshift shrines. If you can drive to the northeast of Khlong Lan Waterfall you can find a trio of Buddhas along with a reclining one at the Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park. It will take hardly an hours drive from the waterfall. If you can reach at the Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park then there are good numbers of enjoyable sites around the park which include number of Buddhist Monasteries of ancient days. Some of the monasteries are marvelous and houses quite a few wonderful Buddha statue.
