Mumbai is a cosmopolitan Indian city that also has many temples and religious places. The city is particularly popular for celebrating the Ganesh Chaturthi festival with much pomp and gaiety each year in honor of Lord Ganesha. As such, there is a good number of followers of this diety and there are also a number of temples dedicated to the lord. 1. Siddhivinayak Temple

The Siddhivinayak Temple is a very well-known Ganesha temple that is situated in Prabhadevi. For visiting the temple, one can go to CST and catch a train to Dadar. From Dadar station, the temple is hardly at a distance of about 20 minutes. The temple was originally built by a contractor, Laxman Vithu Patil under the funding of a rich agricultural woman of the time, Deubai Patil in November 1801. 


There is a small mandapam with the shrine of Ganesha in the temple. The wooden doors of the sanctum sanctorum are carved beautifully with different images of Lord Ganesha in an Ashtavinayaka mode. The main central statue of the temple is of Ganesha and a Lord Hanuman temple is also there as well. The inner roof of the temple sanctum is gold plated that offers it a distinct aura. The place is highly visited by a lot of devotees each day along with a lot of high profile visitors too.

This temple situated in Mahavir Nagar, Borivali east is not so famous as the previous one yet devotees throng to it due to its charm and popularity in the area. The Ganesha statue at this temple is quite fantastic and anyone visiting it can feel the charm of the place. On particular weekdays, the aarti is conducted here with much fervor as a lot of people take part in it during the evenings. it is also a very good place for social meetings and selfie-seekers can also be found in large numbers due to its lovely ambiance.

The Anand Nagar Ganesh Mandir is located in Vakola, West Santacruz and is a very revered prayer point among a lot of practicing Hindus of the locality. Although the temple is not very well known for many outside people yet locals place deep faith in it due to it being quite old. There are also a lot of stories around it and how the temple has been instrumental in improving many lives. Therefore, people have developed faith in it and a large number of devotees can be seen here on particular weekdays for prayers and aarti.

The temple is particularly crowded during Tuesdays as the evening aarti is quite popular among the devotees. The temple is supposed to have emerged from the ground rather than being built by people. Hence, it is often believed that true wishes can be granted by Lord Ganesha after praying at this temple. That is also a reason why a buzz can be seen at all times near this temple.

It is also a very well-known Ganesha temple and people from the city as well as other parts of the state come here to offer their prayers. It is generally believed that a person can get ample inner peace by praying at this temple. The Ganesha idol of the temple is also quite beautiful and has been maintained in a very proper way.

The temple is located in the Santosh Nagar area of west Bandra and carries a lot of faith for the devotees visiting it.
