About Old Lagos
The important focus of largos has whitewashed houses on a warren of planned streets still mostly contained by its sixteenth-century dividers.
These are best seen on the Jardim da Constituição by the water, securing the seat of the Governors of the Algarve zone when Lagos was capital in the region of 1576 and 1756.
Close to there's a point of interest to a shocking time of the city's history; the Mercado de Escravos was Lagos' slave grandstand for around 250 years from 1444 and is a refresh that the Age of Discovery had a human cost.
One legend from that period was Henry the Navigator, whose undertakings pulled back from the harbor in Lagos in the fifteenth century.
He is regarded as a statue at the Praça Infante D. Henrique.
