About Wolow
Wolow is a city in Lower Silesian Voivodeship in south-western Poland. It is the seat of Wolow County, and of the smaller administrative district known as Gmina Wolow. It lies about 38 kilometres north-west of the local capital Wroclaw. As of 2006, the town has a population of 12,286. The region around Wolow become settled for the reason that prehistoric times. It turned into first cited in 1157 whilst a wood fortress based through Senior Duke of Poland Wladyslaw II the Exile is documented, which advanced into a fortress complicated, which turned into once more cited in 1202. Two villages evolved close to the castle, one in all them called Wolowo.
Probably in the 2nd half of of the 13th century the city become founded near Wołowo and in part at the soil of the second village. With the duchy, it exceeded to Bohemia in 1328. In 1517 Johann Thurzo obtained Wolow. From shortly before, 1473, dates the oldest recognised seal of the city, which already indicates an ox, as do all later seals. In 1523 the metropolis surpassed to the Duchy of Legnica and remained there till the dukes of Liegnica-Brzeg-Wolow died out in 1675.
