About Hortus Botanicus Leiden
The Hortus botanicus of Leiden is the oldest botanical garden of the Netherlands, and one of the oldest in the world. It is situated in the southwestern piece of the recorded focus of the city, between the Academy building and the old Leiden Observatory building. The most seasoned greenhouse in the Nederlands, this excellent common science focus was established in 1590, under 50 years after the Botanical Garden of Pisa was enlivened.
It was introduced by the University of Leiden by pioneer botanist and Flemish specialist Carolus Clusius, whose unique garden behind the institute building contained more than 1,000 diverse plant species and presented a few new example by means of the Dutch East India Company, including the much-adored tulip. In excess of 10,000 species from everywhere throughout the world live in the garden's different quaint little inns, including a critical predatory plant accumulation and a noteworthy choice of cycads.
The college works close by the NCB Naturalis Netherlands Center for Biodiversity Naturalis inquiring about, protecting, and developing imperiled species, and genuine plant understudies run here to ponder among a portion of the rarest and most enamoring verdure to be kept across the board quiet desert spring concealed in the recorded focus, season after season.
