Raigad is a district in the territory of Maharashtra, India. Earlier called the Kolaba region, the area was renamed after Raigad, the post that was the previous capital of the Maratha pioneer Shivaji Maharaj, and is situated in the inside locales of the region, in thick woods on a west-bound goad of the Western Ghats of Sahyadri run.
The name was changed in the administration of Chief Minister Antule on first Jan 1981. It incorporates the vast normal harbor of Pen-Mandwa, which is instantly south of Mumbai harbor, and shaping a solitary landform with it.
