Ankola

Ankola, is a Town Municipal Council and a taluka in Uttara Kannada region of Karnataka state, India. The name of the place is gotten from a woodland bush Ankola developed on the waterfront slope side and worshiped by the Halakki Vokkaligas as a totem. Ankola is a residential area encompassed by sanctuaries, schools, paddy fields and mango forests. It is situated on the shore of the Arabian ocean and has characteristic shorelines. Ankola is celebrated for its local type of Mango called kari Ishaad as wells as its plentiful cashews.

Ankola lies on the shoreline of the Arabian Sea and has numerous delightful shorelines, for example, Belekeri Beach, Nadibag Beach, Belambar Beach, Shedikulli Beach, Gabitkeni Beach, Honne gudi Beach, Honey Beach, and Keni Beach. A yearly mela called Bandihabba is praised on Buddha Poornima in the long stretch of May in the city. This is an imperative celebration to be commended for nine days.

On the ninth day, Mela is led close Shantadurga sanctuary and individuals from around the town and town crowd the sanctuary and commend it.
