About Amhara
Amhara is one of the nine ethnic divisions of Ethiopia, in which the Amharata is the homeland of the people. Previously known as "Area 3", its capital is Bahir Dar. The largest inland water in Ethiopia, Tana Lake, which is the source of the Blue Nile River, is located within Amhara. This area includes the Siemian Mountain National Park, which includes Ras Dashan, which is the highest point in Ethiopia. Amhera is located in the west and north-west by the Sudan state, and in other directions by the other areas of Ethiopia: Afre in the north, Afar in the east, Benignal-Gumuz in the west and southwest and from Oromia to the south.
The Amhara Government is formed by the executive branch under the President; Legislative branch, which includes the State Council; And the judicial branch, headed by the state Supreme Court. During the Ethiopian Empire, Amharah included many provinces such as Dambi, Gojjam, Begumpur, Angot, Volo, Sheva and Lusta, most of which were ruled by native Ras or Negus. Then in the Amhara area, Begumdar, Dembia, Nangot, Bette Amhera Volo, Most Eastern Province of Gozam and Sheva were included.
