Soon after breakfast, embark on a journey to Patan, which is located on the southern side of Bagmati River. Patan, also known as Lalitpur, is famous for wood and stone carvings, metal statues, ornate architecture and temples. Visit Patan’s central Durbar Square, which is packed with ancient palaces, pagoda temples, stone baths, Hindu and Buddhist statues, bas relief and engravings. Later, visit the Buddhist temple of Swayambhunath, which is locally referred to as the Monkey Temple. The golden spire of the Swayambhu Stupa is adorned with a colourful fluttering of prayer flags and crowns a hill overlooking the Kathmandu Valley. The areas around the stupa comprises chaityas, temples, painted images of deities and many other religious objects.
