On arrival in Mumbai, drive straight to Lonavala enroute visit Matheran. Matheran a colonial era hill station steeped in time with tropical forest chracter excellent for walking and offers Salibrious climate all round the year. Matheran is where cars are not allowed beyond a point 3 kms from market centre and therefore excellent for walking. Matheran is home to many view points such as Echo Point, One tree point, Charliotte Lake and Sunset point. Horse riding is a popular activity. Lonavla is about 64 kilometers away from Pune and 96 kilometers from Mumbai. Well known for its ‘chikki’ and fudge, it is also an important rail head on the Pune-Mumbai railway line and easily connected by road too with an expressway running through it. Like other hill stations in Maharashtra, here too you will find ‘points’ that offer breathtaking sights of the valley and the hills with tiny villages tucked in the folds. One of the best points, about 6. 5 kilometers from Lonavla, is Rajmachi Point which commands a view of Chhatrapati Shivaji’s famous fort, Rajmachi, and the surrounding valley. Duke's Nose : Duke's Nose is a cliff here, which has been named after the Duke Wellington, as he had a pointed nose, which the cliff resembles. However, it is also known as "Nagphani" Hood of Snake, as it also looks like the hood of a snake. Duke's Nose can be easily reached from INS Shivaji and Kurwande Village. Apart from its scenic beauty, it also attracts visitors with its mountain climbing trails. Karla and Bhaja Cave : Karla and Bhaja Caves are historical rock cut caves, situated at a distance of 16 km from Khandala. They are one of the main attractions here, due to their enormous antiquity and beauty. Located amidst hills, their origin dates back to the 2nd century. These caves belong to the Hinayana sect of Buddhism and are one of the finest examples of rock cut caves in India. Bhushi Lake : Bhushi Lake situated in Khandala is the ideal spot for all those who wish to relax in the lap of Mother Nature. Located about 120 kilometers southwest of Pune and 285 kilometers from Mumbai, Mahabaleshwar is a vast plateau measuring 150 kilometers, bound by valleys on all sides. It reaches a height of 1, 439 meters at its highest peak above sea level, known as Wilson or Sunrise Point. Mahabaleshwar comprises three villages: Malcolm Peth, Old ‘Kshetra’ Mahabaleshwar and part of a village called Shindola. The hill station is the source of the Krishna River that flows across Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The legendary source of the river is a spout from the mouth of a statue of a cow in the ancient temple of Mahadev in Old Mahabaleshwar. After breakfast, we will visit Veena Lake, Wilson Point and Water Fall. Veena Lake: It is a renowned lake of Mahabaleshwar famous for its sparkling water and abundance surroundings. The lake has a length of 2. 5 m. It offers fishing and boating opportunity to the travellers. Wilson Point: It is the most famous verdure surroundings out of 30 major lookout points of Mahabaleshwar, which offer scenic view of the whole landscape. Situated at an altitude of 1438 m 4710 ft, Wilson point also known as the Sunrise Point is the highest point of the place. With three observation towers, it offers stunning views of the valleys below and entire area. Water Fall: Mahabaleshwar has several waterfalls flowing through the heart of the place. These bubbling waterfalls are most preferred sights among the tourists visiting Mahabaleshwar. Panchgani: It is a famous hill station and is surrounded by pristine ambience and environment. On arrival at Panchgani visit the Sydney Point from here you can see the glittering waters of the Dhom Lake Dhom Dam and Pandavgad and Mandhardeo are also visible.
