Arrive at Trichy: - On arrival at Trichy you will be welcome by Trojan Holiday’s travel assistant and later get transferred to your hotel. Evening Visit Temples of Trichy one of the very ancient towns of Tamil Nadu, has many interesting relics of Pallay art (7th century A.D.) - only 6 miles away is the great temple of Srirangam- an island on the Cauvery. This is a massive temple with a 100 pillar hall highly decorated with carvings, also visiting Rock fort and its temple at a height of over 23mts.
After breakfast proceed to Madurai and transfer to hotel. The ancient city of Madurai, some 2600 years old is laid out in the banks of river Vaigai as a lotus flower with the Meenakshi temple in the center. From Madurai to Munnar: - On the 3rd day have breakfast and proceed to Munnar. Kovalam means a grove of coconut trees and truly the coconut trees along the beaches gives it a ravishing look. The palm-fringed bays in secluded coconut groves, promise a relaxed stay. Day 06: Kovalam - Kanyakumari (90 kms/ 02 hrs drive)
After breakfast check out from the hotel and proceed to Kanyakumari (87 Kms) - is the southernmost point of peninsular India and the meeting point of three oceans-the Bay of Bengal, the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean. Besides its importance as a Hindu pilgrim center, it is famous for its beautiful views of sunrise and sunset over the waters. The multicolored sand is a unique feature of the beach here. Visit Vivekananda Rock Memorial. This memorial to Swami Vivekananda was built in 1970. Vivekananda was a social reformer and saint of modern India. He is supposed to have meditated on the rock where the memorial stands. Ferry service is available to reach the rock memorial Visit the Sangam which is the meeting point of the three major bodies of water, the Bay of Bengal, the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean. After healthy breakfast in the morning go for sightseeing tour of Rameshwaram- the most sacred temple town of India is an island hallowed by the epic Ramayana, where Lord Rama is said to have visited before going into battle of Srilanka. Legend has it that Lord Rama sent Hanuman to Mount Kailash to bring a Lingam for worship when he set foot after defeating Ravana. As Hanuman did not return when the auspicious hour was approaching, Sita made a sand Lingam so that worship could be performed in time, which is where the present day Ramanatha Swamy Temple stands close to sea on the eastern side of the island. Day 09: Rameshwaram – Tanjore (230 kms/ 5 hrs drive)
After healthy breakfast in the morning check out from the hotel and proceed to Tanjore reach there in the afternoon and check in at the hotel, in the evening go for sightseeing of Tanjore where you will visit temples built during the 10th and 14th centuries. These later became a part of the Vijaynagar Kingdom, which subsequently passed into the hands of the Marathas and went to the British.
Day 10: Tanjore – Pondicherry (160 kms/ 3 hrs drive)
After breakfast drive to Pondicherry which carries a strong whiff of the French presence in India. This erstwhile French colony on the east coast of South India merged with the rest of the country in 1954. Legend says that Pondicherry is the place where St.Agasthaya settled down, visit Aurbindo Ashram, the city of dawn, which is 10kms north of Pondicherry. This ashram promotes Aurbindo's ideas in bringing about a synthesis of Yoga and modern science, so as to unite the spirit and matter. Day 11: Pondicherry - Chennai (160 kms / 03 hrs drive)
After healthy breakfast in the morning proceed to Chennai reach there in the afternoon, check in at the hotel and proceed for sightseeing tour of Chennai covering St.Thomas Church, Kapaleshwar Temple and Fort St.George. Drive past the Marina Beach, the natural sandy beauty and spacious promenade and beautiful gardens of the beach attracts tourists visiting Chennai. Night stay in Chennai.
