Day wise Itinerary
Day 01 - Bangalore - Chennai (Monday)

Your luxury Golden Chariot tour would commence at the Taj West End in Bangalore at around 15.00 hrs.. In the evening assemble at the Bangalore Railway station for a traditional welcome. After the ceremonial welcome, our representative escorts you to the respective cabins. The train will depart to the next destination in the circuit by 22:00 hrs. Enjoy a sumptuous dinner onboard the Splendor of the South.

Day 2 - Mamallapuram & Chennai (Tuesday)

Arrival at Chennai at 06:00 Hours.

Though it is no longer a port, Mamallapuram has retained its fame in stone, thanks to the great contribution of Pallava artisans. It is among the most outstanding examples of Dravidian art and architecture and a jewel in the crown of Tamil Nadu. In a land that is liberally strewn with some of the best in temple art, Mamallapuram holds its own, and stands as a silent yet eloquent witness to the glory of its creators.Unfortunately most of the work was left incomplete, and time and nature have also eroded the remains of this once great port.

The whole of Mamallapuram is a fabulous open-air museum of sculptures in living rock, Monolithic shrines scooped out caverns magnificently sculpted within and the worlds biggest Bas relief in rock, are truly wondrous examples of the sculptors art. The famous temples of the Rathas, the Penance of Bhagirath, the Shore Temple and the eight Mandapams. (Shallow, rock cut halls) are also located at the beach.

Well stop for lunch before going ahead to Chennai.

Day 3 - Pondicherry (Wednesday)

Arrival at Pondicherry at 08:00 Hours.

The Union Territory of puducherry comprises of four coastal regions viz puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam. puducherry and Karaikal are situated on the East Coasts in Tamil Nadu, Yanam in Andra Pradesh and Mahe on the West Coast in Kerala.

Puducherry is the Capital of this Union Territory. It is on the east coast about 162 kms south of Chennai (Madras) located on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal. There are no hills or forests in this region. The main soil types in this region are red ferrallitic, black clay and coastal alluvial.

Day 4 - Tiruchirapalli & Thanjavur (Thursday)

Arrival in Tiruchirapalli early in the morning.

During the rule of the British this town was called Trichnopoly. Today it is Tiruchirappalli and is also called Trichy for short. This city is situated on the banks of the Kaveri river. Tiruchirappalli is the fourth largest city in the state and it was a citadel of the early Chola rulers which later fell to the Pallavas kings. The Pallavas never really managed to retain control of this strategic city and lost it to the Pandyas several times. The struggle for power between the Pallavas and Pandyas continued till 10th century as the Cholas asserted and assumed rule for a long time. Tiruchirappalli is 325 km from Chennai.

Day 5 - Madurai (Friday)

Madurai is Known as Athens of the East, Madurai is a place of great historical and cultural importance. It is the oldest city in Tamil Nadu and Madurai lies on the banks of the River Vaigai. Madurai is one of the liveliest cities in South India it was originally known as Kadambavanam or the "forest of Kadamba" or the Nauclea kadamba.

Legend says that Lord Shiva appeared in the dream on the king, Kulasekhara Pandya. The king was amazed to see drops of nectar or madhufalling down of earth from Lord Shiva's matted hair. The "madhu" was so sweet that the place where it fell came to be known as Madhurapuri, which in course of time became "Madurai."

Day 6 - Kanyakumari / Thiruvananthapuram (Saturday)

Next morning the sojourn to explore the enchanting lands of kerala as the train reaches Thiruvananthapuram. Set off to explore the major tourist attraction of the Thiruvananthapuram including the Napier Museum, Padamanabhaswamy temple and the Sri Chitra Art Gallery. The train trails to the next destination in the itinerary Poovar Island around lunch time. Explore the beautiful beaches enjoying some leisurely moments and solitude to refresh your mind completely. Day 7 - Backwaters & Kochi / Allepey (Sunday)

Arrival in Allepey: 09:00 hrs

After an early morning breakfast youll start your drive to Alleppey which is aroud 48 Kms from Kumarakom. Alappuzha or popularly known as Alleppey is a Land Mark between the broad Arabian sea and a net work of rivers flowing into it. In the early first decade of the 20th Century the then Viceroy of the Indian Empire, Lord Curzon made a visit in the State to Alleppey, now Alappuzha. Fascinated by the Scenic beauty of the place, in joy and amazement, he said, Here nature has spent up on the land her richest bounties. In his exhilaration, it is said, he exclaimed,Alleppey, the Venice of the East. Thus the sobriquet found its place in the world Tourism Map. The presence of a port and a pier, criss -cross roads and numerous bridges across them, a long and unbroken sea coast might have motivated him to make this comparison.
