Tourism Projects Worth INR 2,300 Crore Sanctioned in Last One and Half Year

As a significant contribution, the Indian Tourism Ministry has approved a combination of both small and large tourism development projects worth more than INR 2,300 crore in last 18 months. The government release showed that under national tourism mission PRASAD - Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive, a total number of 11 projects worth nearly INR 300 crore have been sanctioned so far, while under Swadesh Darshan scheme as many as 25 projects worth more than INR 2,000 crore have been approved.

Numbers of theme-based tourism circuits have been identified under Swadesh Darshan scheme for large scale infrastructure development across the country, while the PRASAD project’s prime objective is to promote religious and spiritual tourism in the country. These special projects launched by Tourism Ministry plan and implement world class infrastructural development for different tourism sites and facilities.
