Maharashtra Govt. Planning for Another Metro Line in Mumbai

With four major metro projects reaching the stage of complete execution in Mumbai, Maharashtra Government is now planning to take up another metro line soon. The metro line is targeted to connect Jogeshwari to Vikhroli Metro-6, the east-west corridor in Mumbai. The elevated metro project with an estimated cost of INR 4,000 crores will be built along the Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road JVLR, connecting the areas with poor rail-based connectivity.

According to the report, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority MMRDA will develop the Metro – 6. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation DMRC is currently updating a Detailed Project Report DPR on Metro-6 to put it before the state government for approval by the end of the month. This project will connect several metro lines such as Metro- 3, Dahisar-Andheri E Metro- 7, Dahisar-Bandra-Mankhurd Metro-2 and Wadala-Thane- Kasarvadavli Metro-4, allowing commuters to travel different corners of the megacity.
