Derawar Fort: Cholistan Desert

A tourist to Pakistan missing out on this attraction is leaving out probably the most unique fort built anywhere in the world. Right in the middle of Cholistan Desert, the walls that rise to a height of 30m, are visible from many miles away. The walls of the fort have a circumference of around 1500 m. The fort was built by Rai Jajja Bhutta, but has been a witness to many wars and rule by different dynasties. The area around the fort is quite rich in archaeological artifacts and excavations are still carried out in the nearby areas much of which is unexplored.
