Lake Ngami

It remains dry for a most parts of the years but when it is filled up, Lake Ngami is a sight to behold. During the rainy season, the overflowing Okavango river fills it up, making it a dwelling for thousands of water birds. Lake Ngami is just a small fragment of a much larger ancient Lake Makgadikgadi which once covered most of the northern part of Botswana. Though it has considerably decreased in size in the few decades, it still is an important ecological zone. One can spot birds like flamingos, eagles, storks and pelicans here but before visiting, make sure the lake is filled up.
