As a young student, I was doing what most young people do, and studiously pursuing my parents’ ambition of making me an Engineer in Pune, 1989. What Fate had in store for me was something that had nothing in common with Engineering, and totally different. As a result, I left the course because I found that my real passion lay in travel and meeting people.
On a whim, I took up learning French and was sent to France on a scholarship in 1994. You could say this was a life-changing event for me. I just fell in love with France, and till today have numerous friends and ties there. On my return home, I joined a travel agency, but my heart was somewhere else. Being very good in French, proud of my country, I found accompanying tourists in India was a very good option for me. I soon became a licensed Tour Guide for Northern India. 1997 saw me with another scholarship and travel- this time to Germany. This was followed by a scholarship and travel to Italy, and now I was fluent in French, German, and Italian.
That just opened the flood gates, and it was as if I was blessed with a special gift. I was working with a lot of Swiss-German tourists, and hence was able to pick up the German spoken in Switzerland as well. By 2000 I had started accompanying Indian tourists going on foreign tours. During the course of these trips I had the chance to visit more of Europe, Australia, Asia, and New Zealand.
All this experience I ventured into my own in-bound tours, and made a huge success of them. In the last couple of years, I have had the opportunity to learn Spanish and Russian. I believe it was my passion for travelling, of seeing new places, experiencing new things, and meeting people from different parts of the globe that led me to where I am today.
I have eight languages (English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Punjabi, and Hindi) in my resume now, and am comfortable with any race, any place. This advantage has made me into a successful and knowledgeable Tour Director, and my extensive travel experience has enabled me to help other people make the best of their foreign and domestic journeys.
