The 0.48-rectangular-kilometre lake lies at the south facet of the village of Hommersak, approximately 10 kilometres northeast of the city of Sandnes. The lake empties right into a small river that runs out of the north stop of the lake. The river runs through Hommersåk into an arm of the Gandsfjorden. The thirteen-kilometre long Gandsfjorden is an arm off of the large Boknafjorden. It runs between the mainland and the Stavanger Peninsula, along the beaches of the cities of Sandnes and Stavanger, the 0.33 biggest urban place in Norway. The whole west facet of Gandsfjorden is fairly developed and urban. The east side of the fjord has many mountains and peaks. In the outer elements of the fjord there are several islands inclusive of Uskjo, Hundvag, Vassoy, and the Oyane islands of Stavanger.
