Moodabidri also called Mudbidri, Moodbidre and Bedra, is a town in Dakshina Kannada district. It lies 34 km upper east of the locale home office, Mangalore city, in Karnataka, India. Due to broadly developed bamboo in old days, this place got named as Moodabidri. Moodabidri originates from two words: Moodu and Bidiru. Moodu implies East and Bidiru implies bamboo.
