About Banapur
Banapur is a town and a Notified Area Council in Khordha region in the territory of Odisha, India. The town is named after the King Banasura of Lord Krishna age. Banasura, an evil presence lord who is said to have led over this place. The place was under the control of a line of medieval masters, the progenitors of the Rajas of Parikud, till eighteenth century. Real purpose of fascination here is the sanctuary committed to Goddess Bhagabati, the directing god of Banpur. It is one of the well known Shaktipithas of Odisha.
