Marousi

Marousi or Maroussi is a suburb within the northeastern part of the Athens agglomeration, Greece. Marousi dates again to the era of the historic Athenian Republic; its historical name was Athmonon and it represented one of the 10 Athenian sub-cities. The vicinity held a major ancient temple, where Amarysia Artemis, the goddess of hunting, was cherished, and the town's modern-day call derives from that of the goddess, Amarysia, which denotes the beginning of the worship back in Amarynthos, Euboea.
