So he reconstructed it in the year 1641 A.D. It functions as a School of Traditional Paintings and preserves the ancient arts and crafts of the nation. It is considered as one of the greenest and most extensive valleys of Bhutan. This valley of Paro is also known as the ’heart of Bhutan.’ The Paro River (Pa Chu) lies adjacent to this town. Undoubtedly, Paro consists of many breath-taking tourist attractions. Not only can you take a ride, but you can also explore the valley on foot. The valley of Paro is a beautiful town in Bhutan, which is at an elevation of 2200m from the ground level. We will begin our hike at Paro’s Taktsang Lhakhang or the Tiger’s Nest. It is Bhutan’s one of the most popular tourist destinations. Taktsang Lhakhang, or the Tiger’s Nest, is famous for its lush greenery complemented with the stunning structure of the monastery. Tiger’s Nest is at a distance of 10 km from Paro. In the case of trekking, it would take around 3-4 hours to reach this monastery through these rocky pathways. If you fail to complete the trek, we will arrange a Pony from midway. On the cliff of the mountain, you will witness the incredible beauty of the monastery temple. After hiking down the Tiger Nest, we will make you explore Paro even further. There are several tourist attractions in this town. Such as: • Chele La Pass- It is at a distance of 36.8km from Paro, and it takes about 2hours to reach Chele La pass via driveway. Chele La pass is the highest motorable pass in entire Bhutan, and it connects Paro to Haa Valley, which is a lesser-known valley of Bhutan. • Drukgyel Dzong- This fortress is famous for its archaeological sites. Drukgyel Dzong, if translated, would mean ’fortress of victory.’ The fortress symbolizes the victory of Bhutan’s forces over Tibet’s. Nonetheless, Mt. Jumolhari, the holy peak of Bhutan, can also be seen from this fortress during summers (only if the weather is favorable). • Rinpung Dzong- ’Fortress on a Heap of Jewels is the translation of ’Rinchen Pung Dzong.’ The National Assembly of Bhutan used to conduct their meetings in Rinchen Pung Dzong. This fort consists of both district government offices, which include local courtrooms as well as the monastic structures. It is famous for its distinct architecture. • National Museum- This rich heritage of Bhutan is captured and preserved in the National Museum.
