Day wise Itinerary
Day 1 : Thimphu

Arrive at Paro International Airport. Transfer to Thimphu and check in to your hotel. Rest of the day is free at leisure
Hotel : Peaceful resort, Thimphu

Day 2 : Thimphu Punakha

The day will begin with Thimphu city tour visiting the Buddha Point, Motithang mini zoo, National Memorial Chorten, Folk Heritage Museum and Tashichodzong. Later in the evening travel to Punakha. overnight stay in Punakha.

Day 3 : Punakha

After breakfast, visit Chimi Lhakhang which stands on a round hillock just a 20 to 30 minutes walk through flat paddy fields and gentle slope with local villages around. The temple is also popularly known to be the fertility temple among many and is frequented by childless couples and others alike for blessings. Post lunch, visit the Punakha Dzong which is arguably the most beautiful dzong in the country, especially in spring when the lilac-colored jacaranda trees bring a lush sensuality to the dzong’s characteristically towering whitewashed walls. Day 4 : Phobjikha

Early proceede to Phobjikha valley. Phobjikha at an average altitude of 3, 000m is a wide and beautiful valley, designated as conservation zone within the Jigme Singye Wangchuk National Park a natural habitat for wildlife, including nesting grounds for endangered black-necked cranes that migrate from Central Asia in the winter. The Gangtey Monastery, generally known as Gangtey Gonpa or Gangtey Monastery, is an important monastery of Nyingmapa school of Buddhism, the main seat of the Pema Lingpa tradition. Overnight stay in Phobjikha valley.

Day 5 : Bumthang

Early proceed to Bumthang valley. Bumthang is a district in the north-central region of Bhutan located about 158 km from Punakha. Due to the great number of sacred sites there, it is often referred to as the country’s spiritual heartland. “Bumthang” directly translates as “bumpa-shaped valley”. “Thang” is valley or plain, and “bum” is an abbreviation of “bumpa” a vessel used in consecration ceremonies. It was here that Buddhism was first introduced to Bhutan and where the legendary saint Pema Lingpa was born, to whom the Bhutanese royalty trace their descent. Check in hotel on arrival. Overnight stay in Bumthang.

Day 6 : Bumthang Trongsa

Bumthang has an individuality that charms its visitors and separates it from other regions. Comprising of four smaller valleys namely Tang, Ura, Choekhor and Chumey, the deeply spiritual region of Bumthang is shrouded in religious legend. Bumthang is also the traditional home to the great Buddhist teacher Pema Linga to whose descendants the present dynasty traces its origin. Later in the evening travel to Trongsa, which is about 3 hours and 30 minutes drive from Bumthang . Overnight stay in Trongsa.

Day 7 : Trongsa Punakha

After breakfast, explore the valley. Trongsa is located near the center of Bhutan and was considered crucial to controlling the kingdom in earlier years due to its strategic position. This town is situated on a steep ridge and offers spectacular views of the deep valleys surrounding it. Trongsa also boasts an impressive museum. The watchtower of Trongsa has been converted into a museum dedicated to the Wangchuck dynasty and is a good place to learn about the history of the kingdom. Later visit Trongsa Dzong. It is a massive structure with many levels, sloping down the contours of the ridge on which it is built. Trongsa Dzong is easily visible from anywhere in the town and is always an impressive sight as it is situated atop a steep ridge that drops off into the clouds on its south side. Post Lunch travel to Punakha. Overnight stay in Punakha.

Day 8 : Punakha Paro

After breakfast, continue the journey to Paro. The travel distance from Punakha to Paro is about 3 hours and 30 minutes drive. En route, you will visit the Simtokha Dzong. The Dzong is said to guard a demon that had vanished into the rock nearby, hence the name Simtokha, from simmo demoness and do stone. The site was also a vitally strategic location from which to protect the Thimphu valley and entryway to the Dochu La and eastern Bhutan. Officially known as Sangak Zabdhon Phodrang Palace of the Profound Meaning of Secret Mantras, it is often said to be the first dzong built in Bhutan. On arrival at Paro, hotel check-in. You have the rest of the day at leisure to explore this beautiful valley on your own. Overnight stay in Paro.

Day 9 : Paro

Morning trek to Taktsang Tiger’s Nest, or choose to explore the valley. You can also visit Paro Ta Dzong-the National Museum of Bhutan. Ta Dzong is a watch tower and fortress built in 1649 to protect the main dzong. The Museum has over 3000 artworks and masterpieces that display more than 1500 years of cultural heritage of Bhutan. The museum displays different collections of both ancient and modern specimen of arms & armors, Bhutanese textiles, decorative arts, jewellery, water clock, evolution of Bhutanese script. The Dzong is an unusual, round and seven storied building in a shape of a conch shell. The dzong is assessable by motor road and the visiting hour for public is opened from 9:00 PM to 4:00 PM from Tuesday till Saturday and on Sunday, it is opened from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Later in the evening, traditional stone bath will be arranged just for you to experience a form of traditional Bhutanese medicine. Overnight stay in Paro.

Day 10 : Departure

Transfer to Paro International Airport for your onward flight.
