9 Days Paro to Trongsa Holiday Package

DAY 01: PARO TO THIMPHU ( 55 KM 1 HOUR) It will take you around 15 minutes to finish the airport formalities, you will be met by our representative at the airport then we drive to Thimphu which will take you 1 hour, the modern capital town of Bhutan. we will visit the following places National Memorial Chorten which is built in the memory of our third king, visit Painting School where our traditional arts and crafts are still kept alive, Visit Royal Heritage Museum to see the living style of pure Bhutanese and the Dzong.

Visit the weekly Thimphu market. Drive up to viewpoint and take a hike beyond to see the clear picture of Thimphu Valley. Visit Bhutanese paper making factory, visit the traditional Hospital and the Mini zoo where you can see the Bhutanese National animal “Takin”

Thimphu To Trongsa ( 200KM 6 HOURS ) After early breakfast, drive up to Dochu-la pass (3,088m/ 10,130 ft) stopping briefly here to take in the view and admire the chorten, mani wall, and prayer flags which decorate the highest point on the road. If the sky is clear you can view the Himalayan mountains. Then continue onwards, reaching Wangduephodrang for lunch and then continue on to Trongsa across Pele-la pass (3,300m/10,830 ft), the traditional boundary between east and west. Tongsa is the ancestral home of Bhutan’s Royal Family. Both the First and Second King ruled the Kingdom from this ancient seat. All the Kings of Bhutan has to become Tongsa Penlop (Honorary post of Governor) prior to being crowned as the Druk Gyalpo (King of Bhutan). Tongsa Dzong (fort), one of the largest in the country was first built is 1648 and later enlarged many times. Because of being situated on a highly commanding position on the only connecting route between the eastern and western sectors (where trail actually runs through the Dzong), the Tongsa Penlop was able to control the whole of eastern region very effectively for many centuries. Visit the ancient watch tower (Ta Dzong), which is situated just above the town.

Tronga – Bumthang (68 KM 3 HOURS ) In the morning you will visit the Trongsa Dzong and the Tadzong and then drive to Bumthang. The drive to Bumthang takes 3 hrs. Tales of the great Guru Padmasambhava dominates this holy valley. View the Jakar Dzong “The Castle of White Bird”. A stop will be made on the way in the Chumey Valley where one can see girls weaving Yatha the traditional woollen material used.

Different from all the other valleys in Bhutan, Bumthang is very spacious and open ranging in altitude from 2,600m to 4,000m. it has many Buddhist monasteries and pilgrimage sites, making it the Cultural and Historic center of Bhutan. You will visit the oldest temple Jambay Lhakhang,Kurjey Lhakhang and then will hike up to Ngalakhang.

Bumthang/Punakha ( 193 km 8 hours ) Full day drive to Punakha with sightseeing en-route.

Punakha/Paro (130 km 4 hours ) In the morning you will visit the Punakha Dzong which was the winter capital for over 300 years until the time of second King. Punakha Dzong, which dominates the whole area, was built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Nawang Namgyel, and established the central monastic body with 600 monks. Today, Punakha is still the home for Je Khempo (Chief Abbot) and the central monastic body and then you will hike up to up to Chimi Lhakhang (Temple of Fertility) which was built in the 15th century by the ‘Divine Mad Monk’ (Lam Drukpa Kuenley) and drive towards Paro
