The delightful Mughlai Cuisine also draws its origin from Delhi only and Mughal rulers also left their impression on residents in terms of food habits. Due to different states being located in close vicinity, celebration of every festival is done here with great enthusiasm. Old Delhi is fully occupied with old buildings and small and old road lanes, whereas New Delhi is structured with wide roads and huge buildings. Delhi is also capital of India and a hub for politicians.
Your morning tour starts from Old Delhi built by known personality Shah Jahan, a Mughal emperor in 1630 AD. You will be taken to Raj Ghat where Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the nation was buried. You will also visit the museum that was erected to honor him. Next, you will be taken past the most busy and popular place of Delhi, the idol Red fort and Chandni Chowk to reach your next stoppage which is one of the largest mosques in India, Jama Masjid, built by Shah Jahan. An exciting rickshaw ride to a crowded place Chandni Chowk, which is a central place to shop for jewels, household items and clothes, along with having mouth watering dishes can be even more enjoyable.
The afternoon of your first day includes a visit to largest Minar that was built by Turk king Qutub-ud-Din-Aibak in 1192 known as Qutub Minar. Humayun s tomb will be the next destination which is another UNESCO world heritage site other than Qutub Minar. After that, you will stop at a unique place which built in memory unknown brave soldiers, India gate. You will move forward to your final destination Lakshminarayan Temple, built in name of Lord Narayana and Goddess Lakshmi after passing through Government Secretarial buildings, Parliament house and President's house. Overnight is spent in Delhi.
You will be taken to Delhi airport today well on time for your flight to Kathmandu. After arriving Kathmandu, you will be taken straight to your hotel room. One of the largest metropolises Kathmandu is also capital city of Nepal. The city is known for its religious significance and historical importance worldwide and proffers exotic tourists attractions to its guests. It has a past record of about 2000 years signifying its rich historical background including various cultural and religious festivities which are celebrated here. Nepalese in Kathmandu commonly follow Buddhism and Hinduism. Rest of the time is spent lavishly at leisure and overnight stay is at your hotel in Kathmandu.
Another exciting day starts with a visit to capturing place of Kathmandu, Durbar square which was erected between 12th- 18th century A.D. Creatively designed structures with various fortresses, fountains, temples, religious shrines, figurines, etc. are its highlights. Numerous magnificent structures built within this square display a perfect combination of conventional as well as modern style of architecture with its exquisite sculptured statuettes and different stone vignettes. Lions made of stones are placed on its entrance along with historian epitaphs in different languages which are engraved on walls. After visiting Durbar square, you will be taken to sacred temple dedicated to Mahadev and Goddess Parvati.
Your next stop is at Hanuman Dhoka, which is spread in an area of about 5 acres of land area including shrines, palaces etc. and was built by early monarchs with its courtyard built in about mid 16th century. At the time of King Pratap Malla's rule in 17th century, various holy temples were built in the name of Hindu Goddesses and Gods, whereas Narayan Shah and his royal family also contributed in other developments in Kathmandu till late years of 19th century. Afternoon is at leisure. You can visit according to your interests in afternoon time to monuments or other nearby places. Yet again overnight is in Kathmandu.
Full day at Kathmandu is at leisure and you can make best of it by taking a visit to various places nearby. Patan, commonly known as Lalitpur is located from Kathmandu across the Bagmati River. Patan is also known for some items like masks, jewels, handicraft and statues. Durbar square, Ashok Stupa, The Museum and holy temples like Vishnu temples, Bhimsen Temple, Vishwanath temple, Degutale temple, Shankar Narayn temple, Mahaboudha temple, Krishana temple Mahachhenranath temple, Kumbheshwar temple and Golden temple in Patan are some other places of tourist interest.
For a splendid sight of sunrise at Himalayan peaks, you can visit Nagarkot, which is surrounded by forested hills and pine trees. You can also have a view of the top of Mt. Everest on a clear day from Nagarkot. A pleasant view is offered by Dhulikel along with various places to visit such as Kali temple, Hanuman temple, Bhagwati temple, etc. Another small town Changu Narayan offers a visit to Lord Vishnu temple along with a museum. Another attractive place famous for holy temples is Panauti. A pagoda style Inderswor is a must watch place, and for enjoying great scenic beauty of valleys, you can visit Kakani.
Kirtipur is one of the famous towns occupied by Newars. One of the biggest Buddhist stupas worldwide are located at Boudhanath, encircled by various Tibetan Gompas, which is another UNESCO world heritage site dating back to 5th century. A holiest Thrangu Tashi Yangste Monastery for the Buddhist and Namo Buddha are two sacred places for Buddhism followers because of epic history of Lord Buddha where in his past life he sacrificed himself to starving cubs and tigers. For adventure lovers, Nepal proffers an opportunity of trekking in mountains along with river rafting in Himalayas. You can also take a flight to capture the mesmerizing view of Mt. Everest. On this day you will be taken straight to airport well on time for arriving Varanasi through airways. After arriving Varanasi, you will be taken to your hotel. You can take rest and spend your quality time at leisure or can take a look of busy market places of Varanasi, which is commonly known as Banaras, Kashi or Banaras. Varanasi is under human habitation since 5000 years and even marked as the oldest living city worldwide. It is also regarded as spiritual and cultural capital of Northern India for years. It is a popular belief among Hindus that dying in Varanasi can lead one to achieve salvation. Apart from its popularity as city of temples and being a holy place in India, Varanasi is also regarded as city of education and learning. Night time is spent in Varanasi.
On this alluring morning, you will visit holy river, Ganga for experiencing a boat ride. There are thousands of devotees at Harishchandra and Mankarnika Ghats. The two Ghats are commonly popular for cremation along with holy dips in river Ganga. There is a strong belief among Hindus that whosoever dies in Varanasi and is burnt at the ghats of River Ganga achieves Nirvana. You may see numerous funeral ceremonies around River Ganga. Rest of your day is at leisure. You could spend time to visit Sarnath city. Another attraction in this place is watching Arti on ghats of river Ganga in the evenings.
Day 07: Varanasi to Agra through overnight railway journey
You can spend more time in visiting other places in the morning. Varanasi is even older than Rome and it is an astonishing business centre since the time when Buddha came to Sarnath to proclaim his very first oration. Sarnath was a foremost school of education from 6th Century to 12th Century A.D. The places to visit include the ancient ruins, Buddhist temple, Museum and stupa. In the evening time, you will be taken to Mughalsarai railway station for overnight journey to Agra. Overnight is in board the train
You will be reaching Tundla railway station in morning and you will be taken straight to your hotel rooms in Agra. Agra is an old city of India located ideally on bank of river Yamuna. Being a famous tourist attraction in India, Agra forms a vital part of Golden triangle Tourist group along with Jaipur and Delhi. Agra went to its pinnacle during Mughal time and is also called as Akbarabad, being capital city during the reign of Mughal rulers, Akbar, Shahjahan and Jahangir. You will be taken to a beautiful monument in Agra, Taj Mahal which was built in the loving memory of Shah Jahan's beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal during the time period starting from 1631 to 1648. The whole monument is made up of white marbles making it an alluring tombstone built beautifully and signifying Romance and Love at its best.
Your next stop destination is another UNESCO world heritage site, Agra Fort known mainly for its creative architecture that was built in 16th century during Mughal period. It is surrounded by paradise like places as Jahangir palace and Khas Mahal. You can also grab this opportunity of having a view of the most private and public audience halls known as Diwan-e Khas and Diwan-e-Aam. Day 09: A drive through from Agra to Fatehpur Sikri to Jaipur (244 kms)
This morning, you will be travelling from Agra to Jaipur via Fatehpur Sikri. Fatehpur Sikri is one of the most famous historical monuments, which is an evidence of Mughal civilization, built by Akbar- famous Mughal Emperor and it is also a UNESCO declared world heritage site of India. You will be visiting Jama Masjid, Tomb of Salim Chisthi, Five floored Panch Mahal and Buland Darwaza which is a splendid historical monument with brilliant designing and outstanding architectural style. It is a centralized portico with three entrances and popularly called as a Horseshoe gate. Ibadat Khana, Naubat Khana, Birbal's House, Mariam-uz-Zamani's palace are also some other attractions to visit in Fatehpur Sikri.
After visiting Fatehpur Sikri, you will be taken to Jaipur also called as Pink city, located in Rajasthan. Various heart captivating places are built here with exquisite architecture and designs. In the midst of 18th century, a royal personality, Prince of Wales visited Jaipur and with his orders the whole city was painted pink in color and from that day Jaipur is known as the pink city of Rajasthan. Jaipur has its origin from more than 260 years and was built during the reign of Maharaja Jai Singh and hence its name. The morning tour excitedly begins with a visit to Amer fort, also called as Amer Palace which was also the previous capital of Jaipur. On this day, you will be taken to Delhi airport from Jaipur well on time for your returning flight. Most of the flights depart only after mid night so accommodation facility is not made available in Delhi.
