Matobo National Park

Situated just 35 km from the city of Bulawayo, Matobo National Park is another of nature's gem in Zimbabwe. The dramatic landscape consists of granite stones strewn here and there, stalked over each other, rising many meters above the ground and creating a mesmerizing scenery. It is the oldest park in Zimbabwe and was established in the year 1926. The park covers an area of 425 km2 which is considered heaven for bird watching. There are more than 300 species of birds that are regularly spotted here. The park was included in the list of World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. There are many camps inside the park for accommodation. Maleme Camp is the main camp. More than 100 animal species like white rhinoceros, sable antelope, impala, leopards, lions, African elephants are seen in the park.
