It might not be as old as other forts in Middle East, but Doha Fort certainly is an important link in the history of Qatar and gives an insight into the architectural styles that prevailed right at the turn of a seismic cultural shift. Doha Fort was built in the 19th century during the Turkish rule over Qatar. It was used as a defensive military barrack in its earlier years. There is a museum inside the fort which holds collections of traditional arts, handicrafts, paintings and gold work.
