Sensoji Temple

The oldest temple of the country, Sensoji Temple from centuries has been one of the most important pilgrimage destination in Japan. Dedicated to Guan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy, Sensoji Temple was associated with Tendai Sect but now functions independently. Visitors to the temple are left amazed with the architectural splendors that are on display. The entry gate called Kaminarimon or 'Thunder Gate' itself is a magnificent monument that will give you an idea of what to expect inside. There are numerous traditional shops around the temple which always have been a hit among foreign tourists who find it a great place for shopping.
