About Grand Rapids
Grand Rapids is the second-biggest city in Michigan. It is on the Grand River around 30 miles east of Lake Michigan. Great Rapids is the area seat of Kent County. A memorable furniture-fabricating focus, Grand Rapids is home to five of the world's driving office furniture organizations, and is nicknamed Furniture City. In 1969, Alexander Calder's unique model, La Grande Vitesse, which interprets from French as "the immense quickness" or all the more freely as "great rapids", was introduced downtown on Vandenberg Plaza, the overhauled setting of Grand Rapids City Hall.
It was the principal work of open workmanship in the United States financed by the National Endowment for the Arts. The design is casually known as "the Calder", and since its establishment the city has facilitated a yearly Festival of the Arts in the region encompassing the figure, now referred to casually as "Calder Plaza". Stupendous Rapids is the home of John Ball Zoological Garden, Belknap Hill, and the Gerald R. Passage Museum. He and previous First Lady Betty Ford were covered on the site. Noteworthy structures in the downtown incorporate the DeVos Place Convention Center, Van Andel Arena, the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, and the JW Marriott Hotel.
