One of the most colorful festivals celebrated in the month of July every year, Behdeinkhlam is the famous festival celebrated at Jowai. This festival is celebrated for three continuous days which begins on Sunday. The word Behdeinkhlam means to drive away the evil by wooden sticks.

This festival is celebrated for a full week or five days. It is a religious festival celebrated in the month of October or November by Khasi tribe. This festival is one of the powerful festivals and is dedicated to Goddess Ka Blei Synshar. The festival is celebrated for prosperity and better harvesting.

Wangala

Garo tribe celebrates this festival in the month of November every year. It is a harvest festival. During this festival, they thank Sun GOD for the rich harvesting. This festival is celebrated for a period of 2 to 3 days and sometimes even for a week. This festival is also called as Wanna.
