About 2 km from shimla there is a famous Jakhoo Hill, at an altitude of about 2455 m on top of sea level which is the peak in the area, with a magnificent view of Shimla. The an ancient Lord Hanuman temple at the top of Jakhoo hill can be easily reached from Ridge Road near Church by walking for about an hour.
Opened in 1974, The State Museum contains sculptures, paintings, and exhibits about the art, archaeology and cultural anthropology of the Himachal Region and other states of India. The museum has about 9000 objects in the collection.
About 5km from Shimla, there is a Summer Hill at an height of about 1983 meters above sea level. Summer Hill is an attractive township and suburb on the Shimla-Kalka Railway line. Daranghati Sanctuary is about 150 kilometers from Shimla, near Rampur Bushahr, in the higher-elevation area of the district of Shimla. This is an ideal place for trek lovers.The Sanctuary has cool summers and severe winters.
Wildflower Hall is a beautiful famous building which was the masterpiece of British colonial heritage and abode of Lord Kitchener. The complete building was renovated and refurbished and made into a magnificent, architecturally remarkable five-star resort, run by the Oberoi Group.
Chadwick Falls is situated at about 7 kilometers as of Shimla, just clear of the Summerhill. The waterfalls cascade behind into a deep gorge, from a height of 67 meters. Chadwick Falls is finest seen just after the monsoon; September would be the best time.
