About Nieuwegein
Nieuwegein is a municipality and town in the Dutch province of Utrecht, south of the city of Utrecht. The municipality is a former increase center, located at the river Lek, close to the neighboring municipalities of IJsselstein inside the west, Vijfheerenlanden in the south and Houten in the east. Nieuwegein has 63,101 population and was created on July 1, 1971 after merging the previous municipalities of Jutphaas and Vreeswijk. In the 60s and 70s of the 20th century, a wave of suburbanization occurred inside the Netherlands: residents from the predominant cities inside the Randstad moved to the encircling municipalities.
