About Mapusa
Mapusa, also known as Mapuca in Portuguese, is a Goan residential community that has also been a prominent market community in the state for a long time. It is a focal point for Goa's tourism industry.
Mapusa's proximity to the beaches in north Goa makes it a base for the tourist season between November and April. Since it is mostly a business town with a large local population, Mapusa has several inns and marketplaces. The town wakes up on Friday, the conventional market day, otherwise called the Mapusa Friday Market. Citizens from surrounding towns also come to Mapusa at that time to offer their products on sale. The variety of products on display include horticultural produce, vegetables, organic products, garments, and even plants.
