About Govardhan Puja
This Puja is celebrated after Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights which is in the month of Kartik. This Puja is dedicated to the Godan Mountain near Mathura, which was lifted by Lord Krishna on his finger to save the people of Braj from heavy rains and flood created by the wrath of Lord Indra. Apart from worship of Lord Krishna and Godhan Mountain, people perform Godhan Parikrama, circling the hill. It is an important event on the day.
