Day 04 : Fly to Lukla and trek to Phakding (2610m)
We catch the early morning scenic flight to Lukla from Kathmandu. Surely this mountain flight to Lukla is one of the most beautiful in the world. The dramatic flight will let you observe the beautiful mountain views from high above. Upon landing at the famous Tenzing-Hillary Airport at Lukla, we meet our staff and porters and start trekking through the village of Lukla to Phakding. We will overnight at Phakding.
Today we will continue up the banks of the Dudh Koshi. After crossing suspension bridges we reach the village of Monjo where we will enter the Sagarmatha National Park. We cross the confluence of the Dudh Koshi and the Bhote Koshi on a high suspension bridge and climb steeply for about two hours. We then reach Namche Bazaar which is the capital of the Khumbu region. We stay overnight in the hotel at Namche.
Day 06 : Rest or acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar
Today we spend a whole day in Namche Bazaar resting and allowing our bodies to become acclimatized to the high altitude. Though a leisure day, you are advised not to remain idle today. Health experts suggest that we need to stay active and moving during the rest day. We can either use this day for hiking to Thame, visiting Khunde or exploring Namche Bazaar itself. There can be options such as hiking up to Khumjung or Syangboche. We stay overnight in the hotel at Namche.
Today we will start trekking from Namche, our destination being Thyangboche. So, we follow the path savouring the first really good views of some great Khumbu peaks including Mount Everest, Mount Lhotse, Mount Nuptse and Ama Dablam. We pass by several villages and numerous tea houses. After crossing the Dudh Koshi River and a steep climb, we reach Thyangboche where we visit one of the largest monasteries of Thyangboche which is impressive and newly rebuilt.
Day 09 : Trek from Pheriche to Lobuche 4930 m Lodge-Camp
Today we walk from Pheriche and head to Lobuche. Following the trail by the Dudh Koshi River, we move ahead. On the way, we will observe magnificent views of Ama Dablam. Pheriche itself is barely visible at the top left of the valley. Dingboche is on the other side of the ridge. Behind Lobuche is a steep rock face with a line of small cairns along its horizontal summit. We stay overnight at Lobuche.
Day 10 : Trek to Everest Base Camp (EBC) 5400 m overnight at camp
Walking along the valley side and looking down on the Khumbu Glacier, we follow a reasonable trail to Gorak Shep. Then, leaving Gorak Shep, our trail leads onto the moraines of the Khumbu Glacier and becomes quite vague. We eventually reach EBC near the foot of the Khumbu Icefall. Everest Base Camp will be our home until we complete our expedition to Everest.
Days 11-60 : Climbing Period
During this period, we will make the climb to the summit of Mount Everest and return back to EBC.
After breakfast, we follow the trail down through the rhododendron and pine forests which also contain a few magnolia and birch trees. Passing through some memorable scenery, we finally reach Phakding where we stay overnight.
Today we will fly back to Kathmandu from Lukla and after arriving in Kathmandu, you can have time for last-minute shopping or you can also explore Kathmandu city. At a farewell dinner in Kathmandu we celebrate with guides and company members.
