Upemba National Park

Upemba National Park is a vast national park in Katanga Province of the south-eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, some time ago Zaire. Upemba National Park was first settled in 1939. It is home to nearly 1,800 unique species, some of them found as late as 2003. Its lower segment is situated in the Upemba Depression, a lavish region of lakes and bogs including the eponymous Lake Upemba, and circumscribed by the Lualaba River. Its higher area is in the dryer Kibara Plateau Mountains.
