Built in the 11th century, St. Sophia's Cathedral is one of the most visited attractions in Ukraine. It is also the first monument in the country to be declared as World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The cathedral has a turbulent past and has been destroyed and reconstructed several times. And since every time the constructor was different, the structure imbibed different styles. The present monument reflects architectural style of 9 countries. The main attraction of green and gold color domed monument is awe inspiring collection of Byzantine mosaics and 11th century frescoes. St. Sophia's Cathedral is situated in the capital city of Kiev.
