Lake Bosumtwi

Lake Bosumtwi is the only natural lake in the country. Situated nearly 30 km from Kumasi, this lake is a popular recreational destinations for the locals. To many sects, Lake Bosumtwi is a sacred lake. The lake is situated in a meteoric crated which is nearly 10.5km in diameter around 1 million years old. Since the lake is considered sacred, there are many restrictions that tourist should know beforehand and respect. It is considered wrong to touch the lake water with iron so no modern boats are allowed in the water. Only wooden planks are used for boating in the lake.
