Siriu

Siriu is a commune in Buzau County , Romania , at the valley of Buzau River . It is composed of 5 villages: Casoca, Piatrii Colt, Gura Siriului, the commune middle and Muscelusa. The oldest attestation of Siriu dates back to the mid-16th century. A file issued with the aid of the voivod of Wallachia granted possession of some land in Siriu to Petru and Lupu. Siriu is positioned in the north-western a part of the county, within the Buzau Mountains, at the Carpathians' curvature, on both aspects of the Buzau River.

The most altitude of the Siriu commune exceeds 1400 m. The Siriu Dam, constructed among 1982 and 1994 and its artificial lake are positioned within the commune. Lacul Vulturilor is a periglacial lake also located in Siriu. Many of the locals paintings at the Nehoiasu hydroelectric strength plant. Another department of industry active in Siriu is timber processing. Other locals grow animals mainly sheep or bovine, and fruit trees.
