Waddinxveen

Waddinxveen is a city and municipality alongside the Gouwe river within the western Netherlands in the province of South Holland close to Gouda. The municipality had a population of 27,213 in 2017 and covers a place of 29.40 km2 of which 1.50 km2 is water. In Waddinxveen, there's the so-called 'Vergeten Plek'. This is the lowest location within the Dutch polders. It's 7.01 meters under Amsterdam Ordnance Datum. Partner metropolis of Waddinxveen is Pelhřimov inside the Czech Republic.

The first connection with the place is from 1233, whilst on April 20, Floris IV, Count of Holland, bought a place of peat lands along the Gouwe River for 200 Dutch pounds to Nicolas of Gnepwijk, Lord of Aalsmeer and Woubrecht. The region turned into given the call "Waddinxvene". Because of this occasion, Waddinxveen celebrated its 750-12 months anniversary in 1983. Between 1817 and 1870, Waddinxveen changed into dissolved and its vicinity break up into the municipalities of Noord-Waddinxveen and Zuid-Waddinxveen.
