Day 1 : Rishikesh to Govindghat (270 km ) – 8 .5 Hours
On the first day of your trek, you’ll be driving from Rishikesh tonGovindghat (1,828 m)via Joshimath. The entire journey takes you throughnthe mountain side, with the river Ganges flowing below you. You also getnto witness the confluence of rivers Alaknanda and Bhagirathi to form rivernGanges. Govindghat is located in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Thisnplace is a base for many treks including Kuari Pass, Pangarchula Peak,nand Valley of flowers.
Day 2 : Govindghat to Bhyundar village (10km trek)
Start early and mark your way towards Bhyundar village, the startingnpoint of the trek to Kagbhusandi Lake. Though, there is steep climbing fornthe first hour of the trek, but it is easier in gradient later on. You willnencounter rocky areas, glaciers, shrubs, rivers, etc on the first day of yourntrek. Enjoy the sounds of gushing water of River Alaknanda, while younmove forward. The trail after Bhyundar village passes through densenbear-infested rhododendron forests. It is here that you’ll have a firstnglimpse of Hathi Parvat while moving towards Roopdhungi. Overnightnstay in tents at Roopdhungi.
Post breakfast, we move from Roop Dhungi to Simartoli, and later to Rajnkharak. The entire trail is beautiful and soothing to eyes. You will benwalking on a colorful route with variety of flowers blooming in full blossomnand snow-clad Himalayan peaks in the background. Passing throughnKargil, Simartoli, Bankbara, and Dang Khark we camp at Raj Khark for thenday. These are all beautiful campsites for trekkers. A lot of shepherdsnfrom the nearby villages use this area as pastureland to graze theirnlivestock.
