Today after breakfast drive to Cherapunjee(165km/7hrs) world renowned for being once the wettest place on earth. On the way visit the Shillong Peak (1965 m) which offers breathtaking view of the city below. Overnight at the hotel.
This morning drive 3 hours (90 km) to Mawlynnong, one of the cleanest villages in Asia. This village borders Bangladesh and you can have a great view of the plains of Bangladesh from here. Trek to the living Root Bridge which is a real delight to see. Walk to the Bangladesh view point and explore the village and interact with the locals. Thereafter drive to Shillong. On the way, visit the Elephant falls. Overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast, sightseeing of Shillong. Visit the serene Ward’s Lake, Bidon and Bishop falls, the Cathedral and the Museum. Afternoon see the unique Teer (Archery Lottery) of Shillong (Except Sunday). Evening at leisure for shopping. Overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast, drive to the ancient town of Tezpur (6hours). Tezpur is an old very historic town of Assam which was known as Sonitpur. Historical ruins of 8th-9th century dot the surrounding areas of the town. The ruins of Bamuni Hills among them are the most famous. They bear resemblance to the Gupta period art. After breakfast proceed to Kaziranga National Park (2 hours) a world heritage site and famous for the one horned Rhino. On arrival, check-in at the lodge. Morning periphery of the park to see the wildlife. Evening at leisure. Overnight at the lodge.
Morning after breakfast sightseeing of Kohima. Visit the WW II Cemetery, nestled in the heart of Kohima town, where one of the fiercest battles was fought. Also visit State Museum. It gives you a peep into the various aspects of Naga Culture. Also visit the catholic cathedral and the local market. Overnight at the hotel.
Today drive to Mon. On arrival, check in at the guest house. Mon is the headquarter of the Konyak tribe who wear traditional dresses with feathered headgear and have tattooed faces. Overnight at the guest house.
After having breakfast depart for Longwa (42 Km/ 3 hrs). En route stop at the bank of river Tapi / Taphi. The beautiful Longwa village is ranked among the biggest villages in Mon. As the village straddles the international boundary line, one half of the Angh's house falls within the Indian territory and the other half in Myanmar . Here, literally, the totem pillar that juts out above the roof divides the house into two countries and the Angh takes his meals in India and sleeps in Myanmar. The angh and the village council chairman administers the whole village. The village has also become a major trade point between India and Myanmar. Thereafter drive back to Mon. On the way, visit some other villages. Dinner and overnight at the guest house.
Today drive to Dibrugarh (190 km/ 6 hours) a historic old important tea town of Assam. On the way visit Sivasagar, the ancient capital town of the Ahom kingdom, who ruled Assam at a stretch of 600 years before the reign of British. The ancient temples and monuments like Ranghar, Talatalghar, Siva Dol can be seen. Thereafter, proceed to Dibrugarh. On arrival, check-in at the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 13: Dibrugarh – Naharkatia - Jeypore – Dibrugarh
This morning proceed to the Nam-Phake village where a community named Tye-Phake resides. It is said that about 1000 years back this community moved from Thailand and settled down here. After lunch visit the Monastery to view the life style of these local people. Thereafter trek inside Jeypore rain forest. Drive back to Dibrugarh. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Today after breakfast visit a tea garden for which Assam is world famous. Know about the process of manufacturing of tea by visiting a tea factory. Thereafter transfer to the airport for your onward journey.
