Monument to Sebastian de Belalcazar

The landmark to Sebastián de Belalcázar is a person on foot landmark that is situated in the city of Santiago de Cali, capital of Valle del Cauca. It is a tribute to the victor Sebastián de Belalcázar , who established the city in 1536 and it is a standout amongst the most notable landmarks of the city.

The figure was made completely in Spain, from where it was exchanged by ship to Buenaventura, and from that point it was transported by donkey to Cali. 2 Once in the city, the model was gathered and set on a platform. The landmark comprises of the picture of the champion made in cast bronze, with the correct hand indicating the west, that is, towards the Pacific, and with his left hand holding his Tizona sword.
