K2

At 8,611 m, K2 is the second highest mountain in the world after Mount Everest in Nepal. Originally known as Mount Godwin-Austen, it is locally addressed by the name Chogo Ri, which means “Great Mountain”. Many expeditions have been conducted on the K2 but the peak was only reached in the year 1954. It is considered one of the most dangerous mountains to climb because of its unpredictability. There are two major passes that run through K2 namely Karakorum Pass at 18,280 feet and Khunnjerab Pass at 15,420 feet which makes them among the highest passes in the world. The highest peak of Karakoram, visible from many a miles away, offers some exquisite sights during sunrise and sunsets.
