Namangan

Namangan is a town in jap Uzbekistan. It is the executive, monetary, and cultural center of Namangan Region. Namangan is placed in the northern edge of the Fergana Valley, much less than 30 km from the Kyrgyzstan border. The city is served by means of Namangan Airport. Namangan has been an important craft and change middle within the Fergana Valley for the reason that 17th century. A massive number of factories were constructed in the metropolis throughout Soviet instances. During World War II, industrial production in Namangan accelerated fivefold in comparison with that of 1926-1927.

Currently, Namangan is particularly a center for light enterprise, particularly in meals. The formally registered population of the town became 475,700 in 2014. Uzbeks are the biggest ethnic group. The metropolis takes its name from the neighborhood salt mines. Babur noted the village of Namangan in his memoirs Baburnama. In his e-book A quick History of the Khanate of Kokand, the Russian ethnographer Vladimir Petrovich Nalivkin wrote that Namangan is stated in legal files dating returned to 1643.
