Bohemia

Bohemia is a city in New York, United States. The populace was 10,180 at the 2010 enumeration. It is arranged along the South Shore of Long Island in the Town of Islip, around 30 miles from New York City. The territory was established as Bohemia in 1855 by Slavic migrants who were the principal Europeans to settle there in vast numbers. These transients originated from a precipitous town close Kadaň in the Central European Kingdom of Bohemia, which is the town's namesake. Their journey harmonized with an influx of Bohemian nationals emigrating to the United States, a large number of whom epitomized the free energetic and edified ways of life synonymous with Bohemianism.
