Arbon

Arbon is a historic and statistical city and a municipality and district capital of Arbon district in Canton of Thurgau in Switzerland. Constance is located on the southern bank of the lake, respectively, on a railway line between Urban Connasts / Romensoran and Rorschach Chur, or Saint Gallen. This is the site of prehistoric settlements which is coming back in 6,5000 years. The palace elements on the peninsula were part of a late Roman defensive fortifications, which developed into a medieval city in the first part of the thirteenth century.

Near the banks of the Lake Constance have been settled from the Stone Age. In 1885 and 1944, Archaeological Digges unveiled the Stilt House of Stone and Bronze Eases. First of all, it was believed that they were made up of water, because they were mounted on the stilts. However, now it is known that they were on the shore and were made in this way because the land was swampy.

During Roman times, Burgley was probably a Roman fort. The situation and views raised above the lake were strategically important. Since 1957, the remains of the Roman fortifications have long been seen in the excavation on a regular basis. Arbon's Latin name, Arber Felix happy tree, is first seen in approximately 280 and is mentioned in 300 in Itinarium Antonini. According to the chronology of Ammianus Marcellinus, the Emperor went to the Gratian 378, and remained there until the beginning of the 20th century, there was a large non-Swiss minority community of Araon.
